A Message from a Hill Family

Dear Hill Community,

My name is Julie Hammer and my son Nick is in 7th grade at Hill Learning Center. I’ll never forget Nick’s beloved Kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Silva, sitting my husband Mac and me down at the end-of-year teacher conference and recommending Hill for Nick. When asked if Nick really needed to be at Hill she said, “let me ask you this…if he had a broken arm, you would take him to the emergency room, right?”

Hill Learning Center was that emergency room for our Nick. I’ll never forget her words.

A child’s academic struggles are just as important to their overall emotional growth as their physical needs. Nick has attended Hill for the last 7 years and greatly needed the individualized support for his learning and development. Hill has helped Nick become a confident, successful, and independent learner. Next year, Nick will leave Hill and attend his base school full-time for 8th grade. I am so proud of him. And knowing that we as a family will always have Hill as a resource and community as we support Nick’s continued growth and development also gives me comfort and joy.

I am honored to serve as Parent Representative on Hill’s Board and advocate for Hill’s teachers, students, and families. I deeply believe in Hill‘s mission, and I want to help other children like Nick have access to the transformative experience of Hill Learning Center.

As this school year ends and Hill’s fiscal year comes to a close, thank you for joining me in making a gift to Hill Fund. Each year, Hill Fund provides unrestricted support for Hill’s areas of greatest need. Your support has a lasting impact on the lives of everyone in the Hill community.

Thank you for helping to support students like my Nick become confident, independent learners.

Sincerely,
Julie Hammer
