Differentiated Instruction for Diverse Learners

Based on the knowledge that all students learn differently, the educational models of differentiated instruction and universal design for learning, emphasize adapting instruction to meet the individual needs of diverse learners. This course will address the challenges educators face and provide participants with:

  • Effective instructional strategies that address the learning environment, flexible grouping, high quality curriculum, and continuous assessment following the principles of universal design
  • Knowledge about how to incorporate student interests, learning styles, and readiness levels into lesson and unit plans, resulting in meaningful instruction that addresses content standards
  • An overview of accommodations, modifications, and assistive technology to enhance their understanding of differentiated practices
