Fluency Micro-credential Stack
Fluency is the ability to read a text accurately, quickly, and with expression. Fluent readers sound as though they are speaking naturally. Speed must be adequate. However, more important indicators of fluency include expressive phrasing of text and evidence that the reader is processing meaning while reading. Fluency is the bridge between word recognition to comprehension.
In the Fluency stack, you will have the opportunity to develop and demonstrate these four competencies:
- Foundations of Fluency (5 Credit Hours):
To earn this micro-credential, you will demonstrate an understanding of the core components of fluency, their impact on reading development, and strategies for working with students who have demonstrated challenges in this area.
- Identify Student Needs in Fluency (5 Credit Hours):
To earn this micro-credential, you will leverage data to identify a student’s strengths and challenges in fluency.
- Design a Plan for Fluency Instruction (5 Credit Hours):
To earn this micro-credential, you will demonstrate the ability to design a plan to support a student’s acquisition of fluency skills.
- Implement a Plan for Fluency Instruction (5 Credit Hours):
To earn this micro-credential, you will implement a data-driven plan to support fluency instruction for a student in the classroom.
