HillMath provides the research-based methodology utilized within The Hill Center by K-8 teachers. It is an individualized, multisensory approach to teaching math in a small-group environment. It focuses on a sequential progression of skills, immediate feedback, and use of learning strategies to support student growth in mathematics. Classroom and remediation teachers can use this methodology to address the barriers of struggling learners. Participants will:


  • Learn and practice the 6 components of the program:
    • Fluency
    • Number Sense
    • Review
    • Problem Solving
    • Computation & Application
    • Reflection
  • Learn how to use components to differentiate for students to best meet their varying needs and classroom dynamics.

HillStrategies for Math

HillStrategies for Math introduces general classroom teachers who have previously attended HillMath as well as those who have not to problem-solving and discussion strategies to help support all learners and provides techniques and strategies to address the barriers of struggling learners. Participants will:


  • Learn how to respond to student needs through quality discussion and instruction through word problems.
  • Focus on best practices for developing conceptual understanding of mathematics concepts in students.
  • Learn how to create flexibility in their teaching practices to assure all students are receiving the highest level of math instruction possible.
