“My son attended The Hill Center and successfully completed the program there.  I tell you, this was a child who when we as a family went out for dinner, his favorite restaurant was Red Lobster because the Red Lobster menu for children had pictures, so for once he did not have to wait for his older sister to order. He could look at the pictures of things that were available and decide for himself.  I don’t need to tell those of you who are parents just how that makes you feel when you realize that your child is hindered from being successful in something as simple as ordering his lunch, because he cannot read.  But in this personnel dilemma, and this is where the quiver lessens, I realize that there was opportunity and obligation. There was opportunity to learn more about learning differences and there was obligation to share that learning.  I am very proud that today my son, a product of The Hill Center, has very successfully completed that all too daunting first year of college at the University of North Carolina, Asheville and at this point he has plans to go on to law school.”
