Teacher Training at The Hill Center is an integral component of its mission to transform students with learning differences into confident, independent learners. In 2002, The Hill Center successfully fulfilled the International Multisensory Structured Language Education Council IMSLEC criteria for accreditation of its teacher training courses and workshops. Each workshop is research-based, incorporates multisensory teaching techniques, and includes an evaluation component/follow up activity in order to provide participants with a comprehensive professional development experience. This accreditation allows The Hill Center to award certification in the Center’s internationally recognized multisensory, structured language methodology.
The Hill Center has educated over 7,500 teachers and
school administrators from more than 74 North Carolina counties, 17 states,
and four countries. The Hill Center Methodology is one of four programs
recognized by North Carolina School Improvement Program and includes
the five key areas of a high quality reading instruction as stipulated
by the 2000 report of the National Reading Panel. These areas are: phonological
awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and text comprehension.
The content, format, and length of our highly rated workshops can be customized to meet the needs of almost any institution.
Teacher Training opportunities are conducted at The Hill Center and with special arrangement can be held at an alternate facility.
