Instructions for Macintosh Computers
Description of Technology: The following procedure will give you access to your student folder at The Hill Center over the Internet via an Apple Macintosh computer.
IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ: For best results, once your folder is opened on your computer desktop, drag the file you want to work on to your desktop. Then open and work on it. When you are finished, save the file to your desktop and then copy it back to your student folder on the server.
Method 1 for Mac OS X Tiger (10.4.x):
If you have an earlier version of Mac OS X, please follow Method 2. If you have Mac OS 9, please email: support@hillcenter.org.
1. In the Finder menu, click Go > Connect to Server… The Connect to Server window will open.
2. In the Connect to Server window, in the Server Address field, enter https://access.hillcenter.org. Click Connect.
3. In the WebDAV File System Authentication window, enter your Hill Center username and Hill Center password. Click OK.
4. If you get a security message, about a certificate, click OK. (The Hill Center is using a SSL certificate; it isn’t recognized by the Mac OS.)
5. The Student server will open on your desktop containing your Student Directory.
6. You can drag files to and from your Student Directory. (You may have to enter your username and password during the connection.)
7. When you are finished, drag Student server icon to the trash can on the Dock or just click on the eject button near to the Student drive to disconnect from the server.
Method 2 for MacOS X (10.3.x and earlier):
1. To access your Student Directory, you'll need a WEBDav application. Download the application from the link below: http://www.webdav.org/goliath/installs/Goliath1_0_1.dmg.gz
2. Once the virtual volume is mounted on the desktop, open it and copy the Goliath 1.0.1 folder in the Application folder.
3. Double click on the Goliath file to launch the program.
4. When prompted, enter https://access.hillcenter.org and then enter your Hill Center username and Hill Center password. Click OK.
5. Just click OK if a Security Alert appears regarding a certificate. (The Hill Center is using a SSL certificate; it isn’t recognized by the Mac OS.)
6. The Student server will open on your desktop containing your Student Directory.
7. You can drag files to and from your user folder. (You may have to enter your username and password during the connection.)
8. When you are finished, quit the Goliath program to disconnect from the Student server.
