| Advocacy for Students with Special Needs: Collaborating for Success |
Understanding special education laws and policies and their impact on local practices can be a complicated process. Engaging in a partnership for decision-making for identified students and knowing how to appropriately advocate for students through the IEP process is critical. Participants will learn about:
- Main tenets of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEIA, 2004)
- Initial evaluations and eligibility determination
- Individualized Education Program (IEP) development
- Strategies to promote collaborative student advocacy
