Job Announcement

The Hill Center offers a unique half-day program to students in grades K-12 with diagnosed learning disabilities or attention deficit disorders who are enrolled in either a public or private school for a portion of the day. Additionally, The Hill Center offers a comprehensive teacher training program and serves as a community and regional resource for parents, teachers, and educational administrators.  This position involves work in the professional development division of The Hill Center.  It requires a strong knowledge of mathematics curriculum and instruction as well as English/Language Arts.  Certification or eligibility to receive certification in The Hill Center Methodology is required.  Although not required, leading candidates will possess some public school experience.  The Hill Center offers an attractive benefits package.  Salary is based on previous experience and qualifications.

Examples of the responsibilities of Outreach Coordinator are:

·         Developing mathematics curriculum and professional development modules

·         Coordinating large projects with partnering school districts and other agencies

·         Participating in collaborative Hill Outreach team meetings and activities

·         Designing training programs and materials for professional development for educators

·         Presenting and facilitating professional development.

·         Developing conference proposals and conducting conference presentations

·         Remaining current with professional readings and research

·         Providing leadership in the area of mathematics intervention

Minimum Qualifications:

·         Degree in Education or a related field, preferably special education and/or mathematics

·         Teaching experience, preferably some experience in public school(s)

·         Knowledge of and experience in designing and conducting professional development activities

·         Knowledge of and experience in coaching and mentoring teachers

·         Ability to work effectively in a collaborative setting with diverse interest groups

·         Ability to develop and write professional publications, training materials, grants and reports

·         A high level of initiative, flexibility, creativity, and ability to manage one s own time and productivity

Intern would gain valuable experience supporting the Development Office of a non-profit. Position is 10-20 hours per week during the summer months. Great opportunity for a college student or a recent graduate. This internship is unpaid.

Job Announcement

The Hill Center has organized projects and internship possibilities for undergraduate and graduate students who have a background or interest in the field of learning disabilities and attention deficit disorder and who have computer and internet skills.  These are nonpaid internships.

Teacher

Spend a semester learning the specialized multisensory techniques used

at The Hill Center.  Work with a Hill teacher to assess students' educational strengths and weaknesses, choose instructional objectives and evaluate student progress in this model program.

Research Assistant
Using the database developed at The Hill Center, research important issues related to learning disabilities/attention deficit disorder.  Topics that could be investigated might include: a comparison of teaching methods, IQ variability, gender differences, skill comparisons, etc.

Outreach Program Assistant
The Hill Center is expanding its outreach programs with the goal of becoming a comprehensive resource center by offering professional development opportunities and a variety of support for families of students with LD/ADD. The following opportunities for internships are: organize materials for the training library, create brochures and other training materials, catalogue resources, and videotape workshops.

Counselor Internship
The Hill Center is developing a counseling program to encompass a broader

guidance model.  The components include self understanding, decision  making, problem solving and social skills.  The intern will collect and organize specific current research on affective education related to learning  disabilities/attention deficit disorder, and assist in integrating guidance activities into The Hill Center program with supportive rationale for inclusion. Assisting with college counseling is also a major focus area.

Academic Program Assistant
Assist in the many facets of the academic program, including reading withstudents, making instructional materials and providing technology assistance.
